I have very dark stained wood walls- how can I lighten them up?

Would really love some advice, Hometalkers!

I am in the same position. I have real wood paneling from ?????year ago and kitchen cabinets to match. All are ebony. I love them but I know the room would be more pleasant if lighter. I hate the thought of painting or doing a stain/wipe. I'll be watching what advise you get from some of these great creative thinkers on this site. I've been at this business for more years than I want to mention and I'm still in a quandary.
