I live in Ohio. A very dear friend of mine grows sweet peas every year. Her secret is to plant them right around St. Patrick's Day (March 17th). She has been doing this for at least 50 years. Happy planting.

In Northern Virginia my father-in-law says they must be planted by Feb 14, earlier if possible. Need time to mature before hot weather sets in.
Try soaking your seeds in water overnight . Plant on March 17th.
