Use white paint on the paneling! It looks amazing! it will brighten up the room a great deal....also, use bright metals wherever you can, and don't forget to use mirrors to reflect light; just be careful that whatever is reflected in the mirror when you look into it is a pleasant view! Have fun!

Spackle the grooves, smooth sand and paint, or 1/8" drywall skin over top.
