Keep them in a pantry in a basket.
Keep them in a basket by themselves ( don't mix them with onions)
Store them in a cool, dry and dark space. Should last for many weeks.
Onions and ripening fruit will cause them to sprout.
My friend stores them in a single layer of a box under the bed in a cool spare room.
