I agree with what Hillela said! there are so many ways you could do this- paint, gluing on the box interesting things (such as buttons, shapes, or anything else your heart desires!). Enjoy! would love to see a picture of the end result!
Hillela to the rescue again! Her links are awesome! Also consider using other types of products to cover the boxes such as vintage clothing patterns, maps, old postcards or greeting card fronts, comics from the newspaper, pages from old books etc. With Mod Podge, of course...good luck!
