I would consider boards that size sheets of plywood sub-flooring which is meant as a base for other flooring to be placed on. If you like the look, prep and stain or paint them. Otherwise consider installing real or manufactured wood planks, carpeting again or laying down a beautiful area rug.

Maybe try painting stripes, depending on the room size. Joanna Gaines did it on one of the Fixer Upper shows and it was really nice looking.
