Run a cycle with a cup or two of vinegar to clean out the drum and, leave the door ajar after every wash so the inside dries properly -I had this problem with my front loader and this fixed it, immediately :)
Tide make a washing machine cleaning product. Be sure you remove your washed clothes promptly and leave the door open between loads to ensure moisture is not left there to create mold.
After using the washing machine cleaner, don't use liquid fabric softener in the front loading washer. Instead use vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser and dryer softener sheets for clothing that needs more softening. Keep the door open on the front loader whenever possible.
Run a full load empty with Borax 20 Mule laundry soap (it's a powder in a box) with HOT water. This is the brand we were told to use on our real 110 year old hickory floors after a pipe broke under our home which we didn't know about for ten days! Saved our floors and walls! Also you didn't say the brand see if there have been complaints above normal on that model. If it's still under warranty ask if it's covered. After all is over leave door open a hair after every use.
If you have a front loading machine, you have to clean them once a month! There is a clean cycle on most of them. You run a cycle with 1/3 cup of bleach only. AND importantly, you have to leave the machine door open when not in use! This is the one big drawback I have found with my front loader!
If it is elsewhere in the machine, use a spray bottle with half bleach and half water and spray it down, let it sit and then wipe down with paper towels!
