You don't give us much information to go on. You can use hooks that come with suction cups to hang shoes on the wall which frees up floor space. If you have room you can use a narrow shoe cabinet from Ikea.

Hahaha! Million dollar question that at some point we have all encountered. Don't purchase second item shoes don't fit after a size 7 for women! Trust me my brother is giving one away, downsizing and he has had this in basement because it was useless. If you don't have a front hall closet and no place else then have only shoes you use daily or once shoes are dry take them to your closet. Depending on your location if you get snow have a plastic water collector on top of a small rug and let dry,if your blessed to live in a warm local then clean and if in for night put on slippers and walk shoes to closet. Start teaching kids the same way if you have some. I have thrown my adult men's shoes away they get one chance that's all and we have a front closet with tray and back with shoe holder and tray. They can dig them out or buy new ones, this isn't a dorm, they seem to have forgotten.
don't you just hate the shoe stuff by the door?!!! drives me nuts. I actually found a beautiful large basket and put them in there, get rid of one's you don't really use. in the summer, I throw them in a storage bench on back porch which is covered with a seating cushion. hope this helps
a shoe bag that hangs on the door or maybe a bin
I measured the length from the edge of closet door to opened front door. I found a storage bench that would fit this small space that had 3 large openings for my son's work boots, his hightops, running shoes and my snow boots. It also has a cushion on top so he can sit and take his shoes off/on and place in the cubby below. No longer have to worry about my husband tripping over shoes in the walkway!
