I always wear an undershirt during the cold season. My late mother used to call it "the soul warmer". How could I possibly go wrong.
start with a long sleeved shirt and sweater. then read up on how to stop the drafts in your home. ie winterizing the place. there are local programs that will help you out, and bring the materials needed if you meet the income requirements. shrink wrap windows, caulk and seal any gaps at base boards and around windows.
since i rented this house b/4 buying it- i used a lot of rope caulk.....it's easy to remove when you want to open a window. if you have rooms that don't get much use winterize them too.
the previous occupant of this house did not winterize -they thought the house should "breathe" this 850 sq. ft abode was costing me as much to heat/cool as the 2400sq.ft house i moved out of.
it's less than that now.
I wear silky long sleeved underwear under my clothes, that is woolen. Woolen socks and I wear slippers and a simple scarf...that's indoors.
outside-warm boots scarf, hat always a hat.
There are disposable 5-hour foot warmers that are wonderful. They adhere to your socks and are comfortable, unless your shoes are too tight or too tall. I pretty much live thru-out the cold, wet, winter months wearing foot warmers, camisoles, and vests. The foot warmers (and hand warmers) are sold in a box of 30 pairs at Costco (or Sam's Club perhaps) and are much cheaper than those sold individually.
