Pat Dollar on Dec 23, 2013It would be helpful if I knew the dimensions of your frame. It is beautiful - what a find! I would remove the glass and either paint over the existing painting. I have a neighbor who is an artist. Her work is very abstract and IMHO anyone who can hold a paintbrush could slap on colors of their choosing and create "art". If the frame is very large it would be perfect to insert a mirror to hang on the wall or have wood cut to size and use a marbelizing kit from your local craft store and use as a table.Helpful Reply

Grace on Dec 23, 2013I would paint it and distress a little, then get some Burlap and cut to fit the frame. Hot glue it and get Chicken wire cut to fit the frame and staple it on the back! Get little clothe pins for note, or use to hang earrings!Helpful Reply

Sherrie on Dec 24, 2013I buy these all the time! If it's gold paint it and sand it so the gold shows through! Take out the glass and paint the picture with chalk board paint! I give these to everyone, I make little ones to hang at the front door so people can leave messages, or big ones to put up messages and schedules. For my father so he knows when to take his medication. I used other ones for Christmas painted little ones and hung a Christmas bulb in the middle. They are fun!Helpful Reply

Nance Greenwell on Dec 25, 2013Congrats on finding such a treasure! Depending on your style, you could make a chalk board with paint, pin up board ( cover foam board with material), the possibilities are endless. Even displaying it on a mantle without anything added.... Live with it a while and it will come to you. Wish I would have found it, I do like it. Best wishes.Helpful Reply

Maria Rivera on Dec 28, 2013WOW I had this same exact picture ehemteen years ago. Hated it but my daughter loved it. It had a light behind it and looked like moving water. I painted the frame a gold color and after the pic "broke" I put a collage of family photos in it. Don't know what ever happened to it. Anyway, good luck. Love the frame and I'm sure you'll find good use for it.Helpful Reply

Polly Zieper on Dec 31, 2013I've done 2 different things-I let my little ones 'stamp' with various shapes/paint colors, with stamps or sponges, onto white fabric/canvas, and have also found a fabric- even a sheet or pillowcase with a pattern that matches the room, and stretch it across the back, 'framing' the fabric. Paint the pic antique white, or better yet paint the whole thing in different shades of green, place it sideways, attach a knob or handle and door knocker and place in your garden somewhere that it would look like an entrance into the fairy realm. How fun!Helpful Reply

Murals by Monti on Jan 03, 2014Another idea is to make a headboard out of it. Take a piece of 1/2" plywood and cut it just a bit smaller that the frame.Cut a piece of 2" foam to fit inside the frame. Adhere it to the plywood, cover it with batting and a fabric of your choice. Place the frame around it and nail it to the plywood. Put hangers on the back and hang it on the wall behind the bed.Helpful Reply

Louie on Jan 06, 2014Hi Maria, yeah, instead of using with a picture. I would also use it more to try and make a table of some kind. Maybe like Dena said coffee or something decorative, it doea not have to be a table or frame for a picture, but more a creative piece of art. just take like 10 mintues and you'll think of something. louieHelpful Reply
