Paint Deglosser is a very strong smelling liquid that once applied to a surface, dulls it, and prepares it to receive paint. If you don't use it and attempt to paint over a glossy surface, most likely your new paint won't adhere. You can buy it in the paint section at Lowe's or Home Depot. Hope this helps!
