Full sized Bedroom Furniture

The Garden Frog with C Renee on Dec 27, 2013It will not look right. Why do your guests need a queen? I would not worry about what your guests need as much as using the furniture that you love and cherish. You could maybe/ probably extend the headboard but without a pic, I cannot give an idea.Helpful Reply

Catherine Smith on Dec 27, 2013If you could provide pictures of the head and foot board that might help some our knowledgeable members be able to make suggestions. I have to agree with C Renee though. Unless they're "moving in" a couple of nights in a full sized bed, should not be an issue. LOLHelpful Reply

The Garden Frog with C Renee on Dec 27, 2013If the bed is solid wood with larger posts, you may be able to "add" a few inches on each side with some wrought iron pieces and another post which will be for the new rails which could frame the current queen size mattress and box spring on the current metal frame. Another idea would be to look for a trundle bed to put underneath and pull out so the guests can "stay" together..Helpful Reply

Marian D on Dec 27, 2013Rocklers Hardware (I think that's what it's called) sells hardware that coverts double beds into queens. I bought a set years ago but never got around to using them but they were brackets that looked pretty simple and I don't think it would look strange.Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on Dec 28, 2013If the headboard is flat and not curved in any way, it could be attached to the wall and used with a free standing bed frame. Then you could make simple side tables (sort of like shelves) that attach next to the headboard that would make it appear to be seamless. Not knowing the style, it is hard to see if this might work.Helpful Reply

Accentuations! on Dec 28, 2013Hello Shirley! Welcome to Hometalk! I'm sure you will love it! I wanted to mention that there is only a 6 inch difference in the size of the mattress between full and queen...3 inches on either side. This may not be a big issue. I look forward to seeing the photos so that we can all help give you some direction!Helpful Reply

Pat on Dec 29, 2013We had a regular bed and wanted a king size. We were able to use the footboard to make the headboard wider. We cut off the ends of the footboard and attached them to the headboard. Looked and worked out great for us. We didn't need the footboard because our room was not very wide.Helpful Reply
