there is black and gray with some white glass tile for kitchens that would really look nice with the black counter tops. I seen these at menards and lowes. best of luck! !
My opinion since the countertop and the cabinets are on the darker side I would opt for a lighter color to contrast. Heres a site that always is helpful. https://www.pinterest.com/kitchenideas/backsplash-ideas/
I think since you already have plenty of dark colors, go with something lighter, but a shade or two darker than the wall and floor colors. I'm a person who loves bright colors, so if it was my kitchen, I would go with either a green or a blue or even red. I would probably change the wall color too, but what you have is a good neutral to work with and saves the kitchen from being too dark. You could also pick out some of the golden colors in the rug and curtain and incorporate those. I don't think I would use a smooth tile -- I think the room needs some texture. You could use brick (either real or faux) for some texture, or use a glass or mosaic tile. You could even add a bit of an international flavor to the room by scattering Mexican or Spanish-style tiles among the rest. (See attached pics for examples -- they come in many colors and patterns).
Whatever you decide to do, post some pics when it's done ! Good Luck !
At the big box hardware stores, there is a product that looks like the old tin ceiling tiles, but they are made of a light weight vinyl (I think). It commons in a variety of finishes. I personally I think a copper color would brighten up the background while still blending with your wood work. It would also pick up the brown tones in yourcounters. Please post pictures what you decide!
White subway tiles are timeless and classy.
I actually used wallpaper that looks like stone. Why? Because like you, I couldn't decide on stone, dark or light, and wanted to live with it for a while first. This was a $50 backsplash, and it looks so nice I think I will just leave it wallpapered, lol!
Someone already suggested this, but as soon as I saw the picture, I thought it would look nice with the faux tin tiles, in the copper color or silvery tin color.
I agree, faux or real tin tiles, silvery color, they come in different patterns are easy to install and would add some texture to her lovely kitchen.
If you go with the tin/silver idea, I would do something different above the cooktop and overhead vent; otherwise, I think the silver would be over powering. I recently used a mosaic tile that had silver ones mixed in. This and silver outlet covers gave me the look I needed. You asked about texture and I would add some texture among the shiny and smooth lines that currently exist. I am a fan of natural stone and textured tiles. Enjoy and yes, do post pics!
If you're into a little work, you can always purchase laminate flooring at your local Habitat resale store and install in on the horizontal, like, ship lap. Easy peasy and looks great.
I love your kitchen .For me, I like very clean and not busy so I would go with the chevron pattern in the colors that match, like white gray and what ever your brown tone is.Keeping it all light colors.Cheers!
More, sorry. I would go all the way to the ceiling if you go with the brick or you won't sell the illusion. The more I look the more I expect a maid to be at counter peeling potatoes.
This is a mother of pearl tile that I think would work perfect for your kitchen...it would tie the white floor in and has elements that would look good with your stainless steel...also i think it would keep your kitchen from getting too dark and provide a nice contrast with existing cabinetry and counters.
I do not think I would go with any type of metal... it would be to much with your beautiful cabinets.. this is my idea only thing I would change would be a few staggered design pieces to offset a bit. going to small on tile size can be to busy....
We have just about redesigned every part of our house but the kitchen as it is the most expensive to do. feel free to look at some of our designs we have done.
