This is my goto
I take a small table and lay them out and spray with a hose, then i wash with clorox cleanup, hose off soap and they come clean
Take the down, vacuum and place in the bathtub with a mild dish soap and water. Hang outside to dry.
After they have been cleaned, spray on a furniture polish (my lady friend done this once a year)....wipe down and the dust doesn't stick....when you use a feather duster ......swish it is off and gone.
Bathtub, dish soap, soft brush, dry on shower rod, re-hang
Thanks for all your great suggestions!!
.I have a shower in my tub. I put a heavy duty tension rod against the back wall and tie the blinds next to the wall. I spray with cleaner, let sit for a bit, then scrub with a soft brush. I use the removable shower head to spray as I scrub. I turn the blinds and repeat. Then I move the tension rod away from wall and turn on the heat or the exhaust fan to increase circulation.
I've done the exact same thing! I used scrubbing bubbles cleaner and didn't have to scrub much at all. Looked like new when I was done.
Terry and I on same page...bathtub, wash; shower to rinse; hang to dry...also, I have 'custom' blinds of odd lengths, so unable to easily replace. I have used glue gun to repair, and when washing, good time to give another coat to broken area. However, time to replace with something??
Only other thought I have to replace odd-sized broken blinds is to try less expensive roller shades...I have glued a medium/ light weight fabric on shade (down shade length desired, maybe bit more than 3/4 shade length?), fold material to cover 'wooden stick'; insert stick, sew into place. All done, and shade rolls up/down just fine (and you can match bedspread or pillow materials).
I echo what Terry said...wash in bathtub with a little Dawn ...swish water around...let blinds soak for 10 minutes or so...drain water out of the tub. Put clean water in tub..swish around over the blinds to rinse....hang blinds over shower curtain rod until dry. If you don't have a rod over your tub...take the blinds outsde and lay them on a sheet. When dry rehang.
I live in the woods so I chose the lazy way, I got rid of them and used the slats as plant markers. The only ones to see me in the shower are raccoons, deer, foxes and coyotes and they don't bother me.
I have always hated blinds...but when I did have them I used the tub with hot soapy water with some bleach. I wiped them down and rinsed..hung to dry.
Get rid of them..there are better ways to create privacy.
I too use the bath tub. I have adhesive hooks on the back wall and hang the blinds on them and then wash them with clarifying shampoo (cuts the grease). I do this when I take a shower. Multitasking--- blinds are clean and so am I.
