I have my dad's old wooden office chair. It's on wheels and rocks and spins on a central metal post. But it drops black greasy metal shavings on the floor under it with use and I can't let it ruin my new carpet. Anyone have ideas?

I think the bearings on the casters are wearing away and that is where the shavings are coming from. Turn the chair over and check the wheels. If they are what is causing the problem just replace them.

  • I agree sounds as though the casters are worn. Not all that uncommon with older furniture as the quality years ago not like today. You should be able to locate new replacement casters at your local home center

Hillela, that was really nice that you went through the trouble to find a video to post.
