For a dramatic effect to go with those beautiful lines in the room I would opt for a color thats a little darker then the wall.
i would find set of 3 simple (possibly white plaster) relief sculptures or shallow objects to place in the spaces.
The three panels are already a shade darker than the wall.
You could maybe do a monochromatic art deco wallpape. That way you can highlight the alcoves without taking away the beauty of the painting below.
You could put metal wall artwork in each panel, or interesting fabric or wallpaper.
I agree with either the sculptures or really large colored glass bottles of same or differing heights and shapes pulling colors from your painting.
I would stencil a continuing pattern that if connected would be one print yet separate it has 3 individual stories trees or abstract
Very nice space
Why not take a photo of an outdoor landscape blow it up and cut it to fit the (windows) done
I agree with most of the suggestions. I would place 3 large lighting sconces in each alcove. Attach them to wall.
I also like idea of wallpaper
They have textured design wallpaper . can put in alcove and pain it different color . The texture will stand out. I think this wallpaper is called Lincrusta.
could have a wall artist do some beautiful scenes in there too.
gorgeous house overall.
Hi Erica. this wallpaper I mentioned is heavily textured and is meant to be painted . It wont be in a nice pretty wallpaper book. You will probably have to ask store or look up online. Lincrusta is one name and then there is another t ype with another name but cant remember. they kinda go together.
Already started looking...such a great idea. Do you think I should remove the moulding trim in each alcove?
I bought my textured paint-able wallpaper from Graham and Brown. Google their US website - they have many patterns. I used this one in my guest bath and one that looks like corduroy fabric in my laundry room. At least 30 patterns to choose from.
They have lights? Stained glass. Or faux stained glass, like plexiglass made to look like stained glass.
Perhaps three Tall Silk Green Sculpted Trees. They would need to not be deep but Elegant is what I see. With modern and sleek styles I think the greenery would bring some warmth to the room.
great idea..i love the look of greenery. Just not sure I'll have enough room..Not much depth up there.
I like the textured wallpaper idea but in an organic color. If you have 3, I would have to make 1 a large book shelf. To go along with a library theme. Just a thought....
You could make the alcoves appear as mysterious windows with shudders or
have antique mirrored panels placed into old window frames to reflect the light.
Sorry I know shutters!
Pretty room! Right now the 3 alcoves overpower the wall below. You can turn the wall below into a feature wall, or put some nice moulding around to match the alcoves & highlight the white in the artwork. Brick or stone look on the artwork wall would look nice if you like that. Maybe paint out the white in tha alcoves & install a piece to make each one a shelf to hold some ornaments etc. Lovely that they have lights. Would be very dramatic in the evening. You could also install one long piece of wood along the bottom of all 3 nooks to look almost like a fireplace mantle. The bottom of the wall kind of mimics a fireplace, especially if stone or bricked. Even turning the bottom of the wall into rows of shelves would look like a sturdy base for top nooks. So many ideas!! Google decorating ideas for large living rooms, in your style. Best wishes!
That's pretty! Thank you!
How about a tiled design in each.
Remove picture below ,then use that design in the boxed spaces.
Put pictures of your family there

Have a glass company install mirrored glass to in each of the three panels. Then install a window box at the base of the panels the length of all three and hang natural looking artificial cascading plants hanging down.
Have you thought of some small korbels that kind of match your lower pillars and add a small a shelf supported by the korbels and then you have more room for anything. paint them the same colors as the walls so it all blends
First it's a beautiful home and I would leave it as is. My first thought of custom made sculpture's. If it's in the budget that's what I would do if you feel it's missing something. They could be wrought iron. You could design them and have them made but you will need to secure them to wall.
I like the way that they look now. To change it up I would use rice paper in the section and paint them all the same as the other walls. The texture alone will set them apart.
How about 3 piece artwork, similar to these...
