Elephant
Help! Can you ID this decor Elephant?

I found this elephant at a second hand shop. The only info on this piece is that it was found in a home in Texas, brought to Florida, and put in a shop.
The elephant is approx. 35 inches long, 18 inches at his highest point. He is in a laying down position with trunk curved over his head. The detail is intricate, appears as if he was carved from one piece of wood. He is also hand painted. He is very heavy. Can anyone help with any info that they may know about a piece such as this? Thanks!

I'm guessing it may have come from India or Thailand. Definitely appears to be an Asian elephant, not African.
It looks like Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, or Thailand to me.
It is gorgeous. if you ever want to sell it let me know. I am not a dealer. I am 75 and have some lovely animal statues from all over, birds made from flower orbs from Africa, old bronze face boxes from India. I just adore beautiful handmade items by artists. I'm happy for you that you found it.
Thank you Olive! I found it under a table, out of sight, in a thrift store. They took $40 for it! I love this piece and highly doubt I would ever sell it.
