A mirror placed on the wall over a glass coffee table containing the plants will enhance light and magnify the amount of plants visually I did this when I lived in Jeddah and it looked marvellous.
some where on the web there is a vertical garden featuring 2 liter pop bottles. the bottom of the bottle is cut off, a hole is made in the cap. the cap end is the down pointing end. growing medium is packed into the half bottle. a widow is cut out for the plant , and the next tier of pop bottle is pushed into the first one. these bottle stacks are hung from a pallet.
Depends on how small your area is but you can use storage bins. The large, say 18 gallon ones are great. They are deep enough to grow root veggies.
