60's tile fix needed
-
Val on Dec 28, 2013We had exactly the same issue in our second house, which was built in 1961. We decided to cover it with laminate flooring. Here are the steps we did: 1. Vacuumed. 2. Covered the concrete with vapor barrier. 3. Laid laminate underlayment down. We used the white one that comes in rolls. 4.Installed the flooring. It wasn't expensive, and we were really happy with the results. Hope this helps! Val @ artsybuildinglady.blogspot.caHelpful Reply

Dee on Dec 29, 2013we also put hand scraped looking laminate 12 mm with heavy duty underpayment/moisture barrier. It looks great and best part if you have pets the 12mm does not scratch.Helpful Reply

Murals by Monti on Dec 29, 2013we used engineered hardwood, Home Legends by Home Depot. It's a floating floor so you don't have to glue it or nail it. Very easy to install. Just roll out the "Black Jack" a moisture barrier and cushion first. This is important to keep the sound down too. The best way to cut the boards is with a jig saw right where you're working. It's actually fun to do and very rewarding when it's done.Helpful Reply
