What is your Location?
Some tips for your cherry tree (assuming it's 3+ years old): to promote outward growth, trim vertical branches and trim dead or dried branches. You want to create an open outward shaped tree so just keep that in mind when pruning. And since cherry trees are pretty prone to disease, make sure to remove the trimmings afterwards.
Blueberry plants should be pruned around March before the little white flowers come out. becuz those little flowers will become berries. I'm on Long Island, NY, and if a warm enough day comes in February I'll get out there and prune the bushes then. At least then I know I did it and not at mercy of the weather, which can be unpredictable....
