Go on google and type in septic tank services near (your town name). They come and pump it out for you and take it away to dispose of properly. I have had a septic tank for whole life and they can tell you how often it should be done. ours done every 2 year whether it needs it or not; it keeps the tanks in good shape, because they are horrible expensive to replace.
Goodness -- that's too often for a family of ten! RID-X should break down whatever is clogging it. Perhaps you need to expand drainage fields. Or Google how a system works. I never heard of this type of problem. Those who pump it should also be able to tell you problem, and fix while it's open.
RID-X is only a temporary fix with the type of problem your having. There is no way you should have to empty the septic that often and the company emptying it should have told you that after the the second time. If the company cannot help you then start looking for a reputable company that can. I'm afraid you really don't have too many choices.
Your lines are probably clogged or broken or roots are strangled around them ? when we lived in the country and had to dump our spec tic before we purchased it we had our company drop in another tank so we had two overflow tanks so we had no worries and with the 10 of us there was a lot of laundry and showers. Now our place up north we get it dumped every 4 years weather it needs it or not the expense is a lot cheaper then replacing the whole system.
What about the toilet tissue you are using? I use Scott because it is biodegradable and the bacteria in the tank eats it up so there is NO buildup. In addition, does anyone dump "anything" down the toilet? I ask this because my neighbor had his rental property tank emptied and there was so much food in it especially beans. You may want to put a gallon jug of water in each toilet tank. You won't use as much water and that really helps a lot. Oh, and one other thing. Some folks have their washing machine drain in to their septic tank which is a BAD idea. Who does that! Anyway, I wish you well and hope there is a simple answer.
Personally, once every 5 years should be adequate to have it pumped. But, I'd contact several professional companies for their expertise and quotes for pumping. Best of luck.
Karen Criner, you mentioned that some people have there washing machines hooked into it dump into there septic and it's not a good idea to have it done this way? What other way is the best set up for this? Thank you for the other usefully tips also
