Spray citrus oils, place plastic forks with the prongs up,and other theories are to give them there own plants to chew on.
I'm going to try the plastic forks idea as I have a terrible problem with a couple of cats getting into my flowerbeds and I have tried several things but nothing has helped so far. Thanks for a needed idea
The forks work best in pots for your own inside cats. In the garden cats like nice pawable soil, Try a heavy coarse bark mulch in all your beds. Add stepping stones or interesting large rocks or art in tempting places. Most important watch for those potty seeking cats and chase them off with loud claps and yelling. They know it is not their yard.
It's against the law in most places to have animals running wild and off a leash. What I did was go to the local animal rescue (Humane Society) borrowed a animal trap. I set it with cat food, and that very night I caught a cat. The Humane Society came out and got the cat. The owner had to pay to get the cat back. After a couple of times the owners started keeping their cats in their house. The owners did not know who had turned their cats in, and I had no more cat pee in my patio or on my car.
cayenne pepper, sprinkle generously, no more problem! The $1 store kind is just fine!
Hadn't thought about animal trap or Humane Society. Thx
We live outside city limits so not Humane society here, the pepper works pretty
well, a product called "not Tonight Deer" helps or the spray "apple bitters" keeps them away from my houseplants too.
Put a few moth balls in your flower beds. Not too many because you won't be able to stand the smell either.
https://www.nixalite.com/products/bird-spikes are Pigeon Excluders - but will work for other 'pests' at ground level - permanent, non-toxic, I am NOT associated with this company.
Try putting orange (or other citrus) peels around you plants. Also, if you live in a place with pine trees, gather up the pine cones and put those around your plants. The bigger ones work better, of course. In my houseplants, I use the orange peels and the pine cones, and they both seemed to work.
My dog hates cats. He loves to sleep in the flower beds though. I was told you can't have a dog and a nice yard too. So true.
