Could I put polyurethane over old polyurethane?

I have a butcher block counter top on the kitchen island. It was stained with a stain containing polyurethane. Its looking a little dull and I want to "re-poly" it but not re-stain it. Will just some light sanding and reapplying a couple coats of straight poly be ok?

Yes- that should work, but avoid using too many coats. Good luck!!
It can be done,lightly sand,clean and choose a non-yellowing polycrylic. Research MinWax .com for options.

I don't think polyurethane is safe for food preparation. Check the label of any product you wish to choose.
