Remove the doors and hardware. Mark the doors and cabinets with tape where they go. Lightly sand to remove any gloss. Prime with a stain blocking primer like Zinsser 123. Then paint with your color. Seal with at least three coats with a water based polyurethane. Use a small foam roller and foam brush for a smooth finish.

I just used Valspar Cabinet Paint from Lowes and can highly recommend it. I used a foam roller and it worked well
Cabinet paint it is the easiest and most hard wearing if you prep the cabinets correctly before you start.
Prep, prep, prep when it comes to laminate, though the prep isn't too difficult. Wash, sand lightly, prime and then paint them. There are a ton of "painted kitchen cabinets" if you do a search here at Hometalk, with different materials and methods used. Here is what I did in my cottage kitchen last August.
