I would say this is a great opportunity to add a touch of color. depending on the rest of your furniture and drapery- a blue or a burgendy could be lovely! Good luck!
same colors in my living room a beige every where.... my couch is actually a darker tone than the carpet, the recliner a lighter tone of beige than the carpet.. monochromatic is the phrase. i use blue for the accents - all my throw blankeys are blue, with an occasional grey used. the couch pillows are a range of colors- red, floral, pink, grey, anything that washes easily and repels cat fur. my living room is on the smaller size...using tones of the same color kinda make the place look a bit larger.
You have a wide range to choose from with a natural color palette. I would opt for black or brown depending on the light in the room or how large the room is to be able to carry the color. You can choose color accents with pillows etc.
had same situation when i bought my last home, i went total beige amd have a entire closet of throws, candles and pillow covers in different colors for all the seasons amd holidays. it is like a brand new living room every month.
This is what my place looks like. Maybe this will help?
Having bought a few couches over the years, I would definietely say from experience to stick to a neutral tone. Many designers suggest neutrals for the "big ticket/splurge" items. It is easier to change paint and accessory colours down the road. Every time I bought a coloured couch, I regretted it later because tastes/styles change, and you are stuck decorating around it.
I would buy a solid, mid-toned, taupe, warm grey "greige", or brown couch. Black can be overwhelming, since it is a big piece...unless you buy a smaller couch and you have a bigger room. I do like Lucy Marie Bernier's pic though.
