I need Flooring ideas for my home, please!

As you can see by the pics I have beautiful Alder wood through out my home. I want to get rid of all our carpet. I have a cat, dog and a saltwater pool to consider. The house style is traditional. As you can see I have tile in warm colors which I need to consider in my color scheme. I would like the woodwork to standout because how beautiful it is. What color flooring should I go with?
I'm considering high quality vinyl plank flooring by Shaw but am open to ideas!
I would recommend going to the store you found what you think you like and take out samples and bring them in your own home. Its your taste and color preference.

the lighting you have in your house is much different than in the store. find a range of samples and bring them home. some you will go "yuck" others "meh" few that's "okay" and hopefully 1 "bingo" personally, the bingo for me was carpet sample that didn't look all that great at the store- but it looked fab in the light of the living/dining room.
I think vinyl plank flooring would look excellent. As for the color, it looks like the wood on the mantle is the same color as the wood on the stair railing. If it is, I would consider the same color for the flooring. Because of the dark wood on the piano and the other pieces in the room, I wouldn't want to go with a darker floor color.
You can go to Home Depot and Menards and get FREE samples of laminate and vinyl plank flooring. Select several colors and test them at home to see how they would look with your furniture and fireplace.
You know with the idea that you have some issues with the pool style have you giving a low pile carpet a thought or just a different type of carpet a try with the new backings that don't absorb water. It could be a different idea. My local carpet and and floor place has a lot to look at and thats why I though of both together. Take the images there and use them to give you ideas too! free is good!
I love you wood work and with that nice tile you could have a new look. Just a thought. Hope it helps Teresa
