WOW! This brings back memories. About thirty years ago a house we bought, my son's bedroom had tan glued down rubber backed carpeting and my daughters had blue carpeting. I removed the carpeting (pulling and tugging) and a lot of the rubber stuck to the floor. I used a razor scraper to cut and scrape as much as I could. Then I sprayed WD40 on the foam and glue residue, let it soak for a while, then scraped the gooey mess. You could also use Goo Gone in place of WD40.With that done I refinished the oak hardwood floors.

Heating it with heat gun , or high setting on hair dryer , while hot use scraper worked on old carpet for me , after trying goo gone , that didn't work , also setting a heater on high on the floor warms the glue also for easy removal , hope this helps .
