Did you Prime the wood first? You will have to repaint. Lightly sand to remove and gloss. Prime with a good stain blocking primer like Zinsser 123. Then paint.
Sometimes, we just have to learn from our DIY mistakes, sand, and start all over. It makes us better DIYers in the end. And this time you'll prime it right

Depending what you painted I think the knots showing through gives the antique look!!
Knots from pine and cedar will eventually bleed through even 'good' primer... If you don't want any of the knots to eventually bleed through, you must use a shellac base primer like this one: http://go.redirectingat.com?id=78087X1556902&xs=1&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FZinsser-B-I-N-Shellac-Base-Primer-1-Gallon%2Fdp%2FB000C02C68%2Fref%3Dsr_1_1%3Fie%3DUTF8%26qid%3D1489164330%26sr%3D8-1%26keywords%3Dbin%2Bshellac%2Bprimer
At this point, you can just recoat your entire surface with the primer, then once dry recoat with your paint.
