cost out your supplies. if a bottle of "x" is 3$ and you use 1/3 of it charge 1 buck pluse a restocking fee. cost out your time- how much per hour to finish off the project? min. wage? union wage? make a few calls to refinishing shops- what are they charging?
If you open a home based business, you can get certain tax benefits. talk to your tax prep person. you will also need a business licensees. depends on your state if you need a local or state license.. and some states don't care as long as it's "a hobby" the goal of the state/ county is to make sure that you are operating in a safe manner.
not sure but don't sell yourself short
Take into account supplies and restocking as listed above , as well as time spent . I definitely wouldn't go by square foot as some items may have intricate details and require twice the time to get done properly . Lookinginto state laws for tax purposes is also an excellent idea. We were able to deduct one quarter of our mortgage (4 bedroom home ,a quarter of the electric bill , etc. So start keeping up with those ! Good luck !
