12 x12 Inches I hope. Where is it located? The best way would be to find the 2x4 studs on each side of the hole. Then place a level to draw a straight line horizontally and then locate the center of the studs and measure vertically. Then use a Utility knife to cut on the lines. You will have to make several swipes to cut thru. I could be drywall not it is the new stuff cement board. If so you will have to go to Home Depot and buy a utility knife that has a blade for cutting. Once it is removed you will have to get a new sheet of the cement board and go from there. Honestly I am doing it right now only I tore out the whole wall and redid it.
Not fun but you have to do what you have to do. Good Luck!
