Like dirt? Do you mean water deposits?

IF IT IS HARD WATER DEPOSIT, A COUPLE PAPER TOWELS LAYED OVER THEM AND SOAKED WITH VINEGAR. OR A STEAM BOTTLE SAVES IN THE LONG RUN.

Confused do you mean in or on? If you mean in, it could be that you have galvanized pipes and you are shedding rust and scale.

Sounds like grime- you can clean it with half a cup of vinegar mixed with half a cup of warm water and wipe it with a cleaning cloth.
