You can use Kilz (Primer with mold/mildew retardant) under paint on any type of door. There are also vinyl doors available; and my personal favorite: sliding glass.
Thanks, Linda! Great ideas. There's about maybe 3 to 4 inches of decay, but I don't know how deep it goes. I'll take a longer look tomorrow. Yes, sliding glass is a winner, but this is a single door. NanB
Thank you Linda! Wonderful tips. I love Glass doors, too, but since mine is just a single door, I can't induge myself right now. Judging from the time I'm posting this, I'm clearly on a mission to find answers, starting with the anatomy of a door. I found even more than I hoped to find and can't wait to to learn more. I hope adding a link here is OK, if not, I found handymanhowto (dot) com and plan to spend as long as it takes to make this sink into my brain and put what I learned in to action. But, I guess I need to study the anatomy of a door first. :-/ :-) If I can save my door, bu golly, I'm want to make it happen!
