I recovered my old lamp shade with fabric I had lift over . Thing you need fabric , cloth pins, and fabric glue . Cut fabric to fit with a couple off inch.over. Glue fabric around the top using cloth pins to hold until the glue set , repeat at the bottom making sue to over lap the seam on the side .
Shades can be very expensive so I usually buy mine at Tuesday Morning, Ross, or Home Goods, or sometimes at our only local store...very, very small town I live in. I keep my older ones covered on the top shelf of my closet so I can switch things around later on.

Placed on the old shade and went around edges just tacking it in place. Then took the whole thing and very carefully sewed it at top and bottom with the sewing machine.
