Suggestions please on how to clean laminate "faux" wood floor-thanks!

I have Laminate flooring in half my home. I use the Bona Laminate wood floor care system.I would first try White vinegar and water 50,50 and damp mop with that to remove any old residue that try this system.

We have always used as

Swiffer wet and have not had a problem

I've tried that but I think due to the film The Pledge left in the laminate it doesn't work either

I will look for the Bona, I have tried so much in the past I'm not sure if that's what I've tried or not. I have used the vinegar and water 50/50.

I have been down on my hands and knees on that floor more times than I want to recall. It's like there is some sort of film left over from the pledge that you can always see Footprints or shoe prints in. Drives me nuts.

Have tried them all, and replied to each.

Open to more suggestions. Other than getting down on my hands and knees with one towel to clean and one towel to dry nothing works. Thanks to all

It may be the flooring, I have laminate in my dining room from several years ago and it has always done the same thing and I never used anything on it but the water/vinegar/alcohol mix or plain water. We put different laminate in the rest of the house about five years ago and don't have the same problem. I am sure the pledge you put on it is gone by now but I have no solution and my knees are worn from working with that floor...lol

Have you tried ammonia mixed with water according to the directions on the bottle? If this doesn't work, have you tried blue Dawn mixed with water? (Don't mix the ammonia with the Dawn!) Both ammonia and Dawn remove grease/oils and it sounds like the Pledge put down an oily film. Once you get the floors cleaned, rinsed and dry, you may want to try something that we've used on all kinds of floors that were beyond any other help, or had a worn finish. We used a wax applicator on a handle and applied 2-3 coats of a good, clear, liquid floor wax. You can find these at Walmart or your grocery store. Let dry between coats.

I have exactly the same problem. I bought the special floor washer and wax recommended by the manufacturer BUT the laminate floor never looks clean, always streaky, used vinegar and water etc. I tried wax as well and it did nothing so I just resigned myself to streaky dull floors. Recently, next door neighbour used a product that produced excellent results for her. It is called Rejuvenate (website http://www.rejuvenateinfo.com/index.php) It says you can buy online but I have bought it at Home Depot and in Canada at Canadian Tire. I have just bought product and plan to use it this week. It did a great job on her floor and I figure it might work for me. Will keep you posted.

I use Dawn for a lot of laundry problems like spaghetti sauce and greay spots; also for greasy hands and for sticky residue from labels. It handles those problems very well and that would be the first thing I would try. Work on a small area and see if that does the trick. The Streak Free cloths you can get on Amazon are also a wonder on windows, appliances, mirrors and other household chores. Thats what I would use for a final wipe to see if the streaks disappear.

I have always used vinegar and water on my laminate..sprayed a small section and used a swifter mop with hand towel on it and then dried the floor with a dry towel...no streaks. Even if I don't dry the floor, no streaks. The floor is Wilsonart in oak color and is 10 years old.

Someone suggested the product Rejuvenate. Just read their poor reviews on Amazon. Found the highest rated liquid floor wax on Amazon, for all types of floors. It's called Simonize Ultra High Gloss Floor Finish Wax. Very economical, even buying a gallon. My husband always reminds me to read the reviews of products before buying. Good Luck!!

Water and vinegar works for me. My laminate is now eight years old and other than a couple of nicks from dropping things, it looks as good as new and it's still shiny. I think using wax type products makes a build up of chemicals creating the dull and/or streaking appearance.

Buy a Norwex mop. You then only use water and your floors will look amazing! It is the chemical or cleaner that you are using that is leaving the streaks, same with windows. Hi Jeannie, Liz here from SimpleDecoratingTips.com. Pledge not only would add a greasy waxy finish to the laminate, it would be dangerous... making the floors very slick to walk on. But I bet you already figured that out.

I have the laminate floors and use nothing but Swiffer on them. It leaves your floors so clean and there are no streaks, etc. It doesn't take many to clean my entire house and it is so easy to use! I think you would be so happy with Swiffer.

Jeannie, I have two solutions to share with you. One, try Rejuvenate products to first remove the Pledge build up and restore them. Two, a terrific homemade product to keep them clean and shiny inexpensively. Laminate Floor Cleaner: 1/3 c. Water, 1/3 c. Rubbing Alcohol, 1/3 c. White vinegar, 3 drops Dawn (blue), 5-50 drops of Essential oil (optional) I don't use the Essential oil. Place ingredients in a spray bottle and spray on floors using a Swiffer type mop (I use microfiber cloths on my Swiffer mop). Don't over wet the floors! Whenever you have a problem, go to Pinterest for the answers ... it's a terrific cite!
