I need to remove paint from a terra cotta surface. Any suggestions?

I would soak it overnight in water to loosen the paint,then lightly sand or scrub the paint off.

Try using a course sandpaper to gently get rid of as much paint as possible. What remains I would let soak for about a day and rub the remaining paint off.
