We're thinking of applying Shiplap but have a few questions. Thoughts?

We are thinking of applying shiplap over wallpapered walls. Would prime the wallpaper first in the color we paint the shiplap.
Would appreciate thoughts/advice on this idea.

Only problem I can imagine is the wallpaper can absorb moisture from the paint, start to bubble and peel. Other wise there wouldn't be any other problem. What you can go is create a "Story Pole" where the gaps in the shiplap would be, transfer that to the wall and paint stripes across the walls.

Seems to me like a legitimate plan of action. I'd love to see how it comes out!
