What's a cheerful but also soothing color combination?

I will soon be decorating a bedroom for a person who is home bound. I am searching for the right color combination and ideas of how to incorporate a hospital bed in the decor.

l would use as much of the natural light as possible. I had great guest room where the double window had an airy lace swag over and to the floor. The walls were a light buttery cream yellow, ceiling and trims white. White and yellow quilt and floral prints with red accents. Glass and ceramic accessories, no dust bunny stuff.

A plant or two and always a small vase with a fresh flower. Mirrors on wall help reflect the light. Keep a nice water container and glass in reach of the bed.

I would ask them if they had a preference or go with their personality. I prefer bright colors and my home has a lot of color. I would wilt fast in a white or beige environment. Just a thought on making a difficult time of life a little more pleasant.

I would ask them, I have heard many times of this color or that, but for me the color of a dark taupe, kind of a light brown if you will, works really we'll.i also love purple, very deep like eggplant, but would not paint the walls that color but use it a lot in the room, like bedding, drapes, etc But I have never heard those colors used, so I would say to ask the person. I do agree to a soft buttery yellow, soft not bright, with cream trim. Yellow seems to be a universally accepted color as cheerful.
