Without seeing what you're talking about, it's difficult to help.
That is quiet a lot to cover,I can only think of a trellis perhaps,you could also use stakes with garden wire but are not so pretty with the height you need,however you could plant climbers to cover the stakes.
The problem with any type of retaining wall around trees is that they grow - why do you think you need a retaining wall, does it have to go around the trees or can you create a larger wall further out?
