Help! I spilled nail polish on my bathroom countertop...
Big woopsy moment.
It's always hard to get started - I like to clean the smaller things/do the easier tasks first because when things start shining, it gets me in the mood to finish up? :) In my bathroom, I usually do the mirror and the counter first - for that reason. Good luck!
I like to "kiss the frog first" in other words get the worst job tackled first so I am not dreading it as I clean the rest. For me that is the toilet. So, the inside of the bowl is where I start and after wiping down the seat top and bottom I use the seat to hold the toilet brush suspended over the water so it can drip dry as I do the rest. Then I move on to the rest of the outside of the toilet around the base and the tank at the back. From there I do the mirror, counter and sink and then the tub or shower. Before starting on the floor I put the toilet brush back in it's stand (moving stand and all momentarily so I can wash the floor beneath it.
Any job is easier to tackle if you break it down into parts and just start somewhere...before you know it you'll be done! Be sure to have a good look around and congratulate yourself when everything is clean and sparkly - it is a good feeling and after cleaning you deserve to revel in it.
First of all, get some small containers from the dollar store that fit in your drawers and cabinets, and organize the clutter. Get a spray bottle from the dollar store and fill with 2 cups of white vinegar, a few drops of dawn detergent, and then fill with warm water. Have some cloths (I like the micro ones) and start cleaning. You can spray the inside of the toilet, then while that works, spray and wipe down the rest of the toilet. Then use your toilet brush and clean the inside, making sure you get under the rim. Then spray the shower, and shower door and wipe down. (I have gotten in the habit of spraying my shower after each shower, so it stays nice.) Then do the countertops, cabinets, and mirrors. Make sure the facets are wiped down, because there is nothing like shine to make you feel good about cleaning. Keep clutter out, and quickly wipe counters each day, and your bathroom will stay clean, and you will feel good about it every time you go in there. The floor should be last. Start at one end, and walk and wash while walking backwards toward the door. Stand there and admire your clean bathroom and the great job you did!
I will gladly do your bathroom if you do my kitchen. No dirty dishes just clutter everywhere. Little storage space. Ugh.
I'd say look around, and pick out the section that drives you the most crazy, zoom in on that and focus on getting it done so you can feel great and have some good momentum to begin with! Good luck!
