Is it safe to use oven cleaners in an electric, self cleaning oven?

Is it safe to use oven cleaners, like Easy Off, on an electric self cleaning oven? Smoke alarms are too close to the oven and go off when self cleaning option is used.

I would opt for a different method. Make a solution with baking soda mixed with white vinegar . Apply to th soiled areas allowing to sit on long enough . Wipe out with a sponge and follow with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.
