My daughter gave me a Cricket and we never figured out how to use it and she's pretty tech savvy. They flood you with email trying to sell you everything under the sun when you go to their info page you have to give your email address. We were very disappointed inthis product.
I have got one called a Cuttlebug. I got it because my sister gave it to me several years ago for my birthday. I has served me well and, believe me, it has had a good workout! It is a manual "wind through" machine and it has travelled with me. I would recommend it.
I have a Sizzix Big Shot. It's a hand-crank. I have had it for years and I use it A LOT! (I make holiday cards for friends and family) I have never had one bit of trouble with it.
Thanks for the input Lynnie!
I have the Silhouette and the Big Shot. I like them both for different types of projects. For thick materials like posterboard and felt, I prefer the Big Shot and for paper and vinyl stencil, I like the Silhouette. The Sihouette is good for custom work (names and designs) and the Big Shot for simple shapes. I also like to use the Big Shot to flatten bottle caps to make bottle cap jewelry. I don't think that you can go wrong with whichever you pick. And for the Cuttlebug and Big Shot, I like to look for dies and embossing plates at Tuesday Morning. You can usually save some dollars looking in discount places for the those items.
keep checking craigs list for BIG SHOT and grab when you find one! They are just the best and last forever.
