How to kill weeds that pop up through decorative rock beds and patio?

Providing there are no plants around try making a solution of white vinegar and water 50/50 add salt and dawn soap in a spray bottle.

I dissolve rock salt in a garden sprayer. Fill a sock with rock salt, suspend in the sprayer filled with water until it dissolves. Spray the rock bed with the mixture till it saturated. Did this on a gravel walk on the side of my house two years ago and weeds haven't come back. Will see what happens this year. WARNING: It will kill everything.

My husband used straight white vinegar in a garden sprayer he purchased at HF. In a day or two the vinegar and the strong sunlight killed the weeds including the ones growing around our brick edging. The white vinegar doesn't kill the wildlife or make them sick (bunnies and our precious pup) or harm the paint on the house when spraying up close.

These are all very good ideas, having numerous pets in our backyard we are always seeking eco-friendly/pet-safe, and safe for humans methods. We have a brick patio and it's a constant hassle to keep up with the weed issue, weeds grow between the bricks- and we can't use anything with chemicals. Through I think it was "Carol Wright" or one of those small, color, glossy magazines that always have items for older folks and has just about everything in it, I found a weed torch. It can be used to melt ice on outdoor steps and on sidewalks in winter, too. It is basically an extension "wand" that has a trigger towards the top and you attach a small propane cylinder to it and you just pull the trigger and burn those weeds away and then just sweep the ashes away. It's something that I have never seen or heard of before but it's awesome. The cylinder is like the kind you would use for a small blow torch and cost us $3 something at Home Depot. Our patio is very large and we only use 3/4 of a cylinder for the entire patio. Anyway, this was a very long post, I apologize, but the torch is really fast & easy and I just thought I'd share a very different idea that is safe and eco-smart.
