What is your Location?
If you l I've in an area that has snow, now is a good time to organically treat for any of the mollusk family (including slugs) If you have wood ash from a fire pit or wood burner take it out and broadcast over your flower bed while the snow is on the ground. You can see how much you have applied by how stained the snow is. When the snow melts the ash is a natural barrier for soft skinned insects. Slugs can't crawl across it without being cut by the natural sharp edges of the wood ash.
I think you'll find this article pretty helpful. Good luck! http://turfking-lawn-care.ca/kawartha/lib/grubs_treat.html
