This image is from Roche Bobois so you can imagine the cost. I know it is acting as room divider but it can be built into a closet. I know because I have planned it out for such a closet before we moved into our current home. I referenced some more IKEA Besta for finishing the furnishing of the interior. Planned and bought some very nice dark sheet paneling for the rear wall and just painted the side the same shade of darker brown. Took off the doors and was on my way to buy the Glass sliding doors at the local construct store when we bought this house. I still plan on installing this on a large wall in the great room but will have to have a cabinet maker make me the closet. What I like about it is the lighter tones against the darker backround and the back lighting. I will be using the paneling I purchased already but I don't see why it can't just be done in plywood or just leave the wall. I think it would look great with some Ellie Cashman Wallpaper. I like that the shelves are adjustable and the chrome on brackets are repeated on the doors. I also like that I have more control over the size of the tv and it doesn't have to hung on the wall, which is something I don't like. Closing the doors, especially if they are lightly smoked, will make this look less noticeable as a utility place and more alluring as a collector'scabinet.
If this attracts you, then you should begin by go to your local Home Depot sort of place and look at the doors you will like. You will need to know what sizes they will come in. While you are there, you can also price paint, paneling, shelving supplies, and LED rope lighting. Then go home and look at that closet's interior Measure the height at all corners and width of all the walls top and bottom. If you own the house you may even want to remove the wall partitions so that you have no hidden hard to get to spaces. Then visit IKEA on line to see if they have any of their furnitures to fit or look around your house and stores to see what you will want to place in the lower portion.
Depending on what you want on the bottom will affect the cost as will the doors. In my particular case, it is the doors that are expensive as I have some IKEA Besta already and have already tied the LED ropes to the back of the furniture.
I don't see why this same sort of idea can not be done in any color or texture to fit right in with any decor from Modern to country.
