Do I need to cut back my knockout roses now?

I usually cut back my Knockout roses late in March. This year because of warmth they are full of leaves. Should I cut them back or not?

To be honest with you Mary, (and I may be ridiculed for this), but ... I cut mine back whenever I want as long as there aren't lots of buds on them. In late fall I cut them down to practically nothing. They always come back thriving. In early spring I usually freshen up my previous cuts. In 8 years I've never had a problem. Good luck!

I live in eastern Kansa,s because of the warm weather I cut mine back several weeks ago. They already have lots of new growth and look great.

To control size you can cut back 1 third of leaf load either by thinning or by height. Neither will put it in to shock.
