Easy DIY Boxes
You could take empty cereal boxes and cut them to the shape to use as a magazine holder and then glue sanded wood like red cedar etc. to the outside and varnish! Looks great in my kitchen to hold all my cooking magazines.
I've glued large popsicle sticks with ends trimmed straight onto a variety of cardboard boxes. Looks good plain. Can be stained or painted to match your decor.
popsicle sticks or paint sticks can be glued onto good solid cardboard boxes.. leave plain, or paint/stain.. they look great!!
I used bankers boxes and contractor shims to create faux crates for storage on top of some cabinets. I even found small metal signs that I nailed into the wood so I would know what's inside them. They're up really high so knowing what's in them is important.
