How can I best treat a hardwood floor damaged by dog urine?
Dog urine soaked through a rug and damaged my hardwood floor. Help!
Is this for a puppy or a full grown dog that isn't housebroken? I would confine the puppy/dog to one room and lay down Training Pads. There is a spray you can put on the pads that causes the dog to urinate on them. Or, as I do with all my pups, you can put the dog in a kennel crate when you are not available to take him/her out. A dog will generally not soil its sleeping area. The most important thing you can do is to clean up the urine immediately and spray with an enzymatic cleaner which will destroy the odor. These cleaners can be found at any pet store or even WalMart. Hope this helps!
Thank you so much. It is for dogs that were very House trained and now have regressed. I think because there is a new male human in the house and they are markOng their spot and one dog is diabetic so drinks a lot and as he is older his bladder is weak... I am at wits end now as the floors are getting so aaged from constant cleaning.
i think I am just going to just go and get a whole lot of training pads.
I also am having problems with my new dog (age 6 years) that I recently got for a companion as I had lost my poodle of 15 years. This lovable dog also had been raised with pads, working "parents", let outside AM and PM, very seldom off deck area onto grass. "Little Bitsy", will go outside, use the potty, come back in and immediately urinate in the floor, then move to another room and has b owel movement. I have made her stay in her crate several times, even fed in the crate and I take her out doors 8-10 times a day/ What else can I do? She is very smart and comes to let me know if she needs to go out. Always given a treat when she does the correct thing and she learned that within 3 trips out. I do clean up as soon as I see the mess and use a deoratant wash to mop in for the scent, but I feel I can still smell the odor.
