Check with your tax collector. Where I live if the ceiling is not finished the area is not taxable. I stapled fabric to the overhead floor joists & covered the staples with the 1 or 2 inch faux wood trim from Home Depot. The widest is 8' lengths for less than $6. You can get it in white or 3 tones of (real looking) wood grain, or pre-paint it your self any color you want. That is not considered a proper finishing material & the space is not finished so can not be taxed as a living space. But it looks fantastic.
I sent a vry interesting link .however i just noticed it did not go through. Pinterest has many ideas should you want to research it.
Paint it, wires, ductwork, rafters, everything. White or black looks best. Spraying is easiest, especially if you haven't done any of the other work yet. If you have, make sure everything is covered. Either buy or rent
a good sprayer.
The sell a very thin 4' x 8' sheet of birch or another pretty wood that you could put up on the ceiling about $10.00 a sheet. Then take 1" x 2" strips and make squares on the ceiling, about 2 foot by 2 foot or what ever. You can paint that or leave it in the wood. It is a light color of wood. Take a look at Lowes or Home Depot or any large lumber yard,
We bought yards of burlap @ Walmart. No sewing, pull taught or leave billowing to cover pipes or duct work if necessary, we put it up with a staple gun in one yard wide panels the length of the room, tied panels together where needed with jute string, this can be adapted in many ways to fit your needs, so many compliments, it helped to sell the house. So cheap and we had so much burlap leftover to use in other projects!
