Make a mixture of white vinegar, water, salt and a dab of dish soap.
I fill an old sock with rock salt and suspend it in a water filled garden sprayer. Then I sprayed a gravel walk on the side of my house saturating the weeds and stone. The weeds started wilting in three days. Going on two years and weeds haven't come back. Will do it again if the weeds come back. Landscape fabric just deteriorated and failed.
Boiling water.
Many thanks Karen - I will try this 'simple' solution
I experimented with white vinegar and baking soda. Sprayed a dandelion with the vinegar and sprinkled the BS randomly on it ....it takes about a week to see it begin to die and now it us totally dead. You can probably use epsom salt as well. I just bought a Mini Red Dragon for weeds. It works with the small chubby propane bottles and flames the weeds dead. Google it. However, you can't use it near leaves or straw, etc. I got the mini since I am unable to drag a 20# tank with the larger Red Dragon.
Many thanks, the vinegar and BS sound good idea.
Rock salt kills weeds and keeps the gravel looking pristine for a looong time. Just remember to give the area a light sprinkling with water after putting down the salt to "activate" the weed killing properties. This works very nicely for gravel driveways, etc. 😀
Bonnie Brown, I have a bristle shop push broom and sweep them up. Gets into the crevices.
Thanks to all who kindly gave me good advice

Hi Pat, hope this helps, mix 1 cup of salt. 1 tablespoon of dish soap. 1 gallon of vinegar, pour into a spray bottle and spray weeds. Be careful not to spray plants that you love.
I use the vinegar/salt/soap recipe all the time for a variety of areas in my yard where weeds start to sprout. Just try to choose a time when it's not going to rain for a few days.
It is so simple but it can work a treat. Boil some tap water in a kettle and once ready pour it directly on the crown of your weeds. Larger weeds may take three or four applications in order to stop coming back but this is a low cost and hassle free solution worth giving a try. Just be sure to wear adequate protection clothing so that the scolding hot water doesn’t splash back onto your feet, legs and/or hands. Some people have actually seen this method work better than the vinegar method, give it a shot!
Boiling water for the kill to the root. I have never had much luck with vinegar, dish washing liquid, and salt mixtures no matter what the formulas are.
