I know that it sounds obvious, but have you checked the lint trap, and the area around it?
Do you have a photo? Some fibers will pill, no matter the care you give them. Acrylic fabrics are horrible, and also sometimes polyester. Also, washing with things other than like colors and fibers will cause pilling. I hope I haven't stated the obvious.
My black clothes always come out of the washer covered in white splotches.
I have to put them through again on a rinse/spin cycle.
I also clean out the rubber gasket lining the inside of the door to the washer. Another idea is to check the water inflow and outflow pipes. Sometimes gravity can do interesting things to laundry and dish washers.
Check around for wash bin rubber. I notice sometimes lint builds up in there creating lint on my clothes.
Try reducing the amount of soap you are using. I too have a Maytag front load washer, and I have found it important to use only liquid soap in amounts less than listed on the container. As mentioned in an earlier post, keep batches sorted in like colors. Hope the suggestions help.
I found this happening with the kenmore HE washer...mine was a top loader...but I had little clumps of lint that I could pick off. For me it was because of the super duper new technology of water saving and not enough water to move clothes around...they would also get all tangled up so clothes couldn't move freely. Got rid of it and got a standard speed Queen with agitator and water level I can control. Haven't seen lint deposits since then. I posted about this...some HE lovers.most HE haters. Including me.
I would do as others have suggested and reduce the amount of washing powder you are using, also put less clothes in per load. You could also try, if you have a top-loader, to dissolve your soap powder before putting your clothes in. The white patches are soap powder and I used to get them when I had a top loader, till I started doing these things. instead of fabric softener, use vinegar in the rinse, it softens and also gets rid of excess detergent. But I would definitely put less clothes in your wash per load, give the clothes a chance to move around freely.
I agree with the vinegar. Had a favourite navy suit with "blotches" after the wash, rewashed etc etc, nothing would work!
Was not the soap, but the softener!
Soaked it in vinegar and water, GONE!
